Phone Finder
Privacy Policy · Last updated 4 October 2026
Phone Finder helps you find your own lost or stolen phone, and lets family members you approve help you find it. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Device details: the name you give each protected phone, its manufacturer and model, and a random install identifier.
- Location: the protected phone's location (latitude, longitude and accuracy), including when the app is closed or not in use, so the phone can be found if it is lost. Location is collected only on phones where the owner turned protection on and accepted the in-app disclosure.
- Phone status: battery level, when the phone was last online, and events such as switching off, switching on, low battery, a SIM card change, or protection being turned off.
- Push token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so you can play a sound on, or locate, your phone remotely.
We do not collect contacts, messages, photos, call logs, browsing history or advertising identifiers, and we do not use the camera or microphone.
How we use it
- To show the phone's current and last known location to its owner and to approved family members.
- To save the last location when the phone is switching off or its battery is low, and to alert you when it comes back online or its SIM changes.
- To deliver remote actions you request: play a sound, locate now, and lost mode.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or share it with data brokers.
Who can see your information
- You, the owner of the account and the protected phones.
- Family members you approve. Someone can only see a phone after you share a one-time code with them and approve their request. You can remove anyone at any time, and they can remove themselves.
- Service providers that run the service for us: our hosting provider (Hostinger, servers in the region where the service is hosted) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (to deliver remote actions). They process data only to provide these services.
- Authorities, only where required by law.
Retention
Location history and device events are deleted automatically after 30 days. Account and device details are kept until you remove the device or delete your account.
Your choices
- Turn protection off at any time in the app. A notification is always shown while it is on.
- Revoke location permission in your phone's settings.
- Remove a device from your account, which deletes its location history.
- Delete your account in the app (menu → Delete account) or at finder.ajmix.in/delete-account. This permanently deletes your account, devices, location history and shares immediately.
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Each phone uses its own revocable access token.
Children
Phone Finder is not directed at children under 13, and accounts must be created by an adult or with a parent's involvement. Protection must be turned on on the phone itself, with the disclosure shown to its user.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the app.
